TARGETED UNIVERSALISMOur approach is guided by the theory of targeted universalism, which acknowledges that improving outcomes for the most marginalized ultimately improves conditions for everyone.
The 40x40 neighborhood struggles with a host of systemic barriers to housing, health, economic opportunities, and education, with Black children and families experiencing some of the greatest inequities and most detrimental outcomes. By applying a targeted universalism approach that centers Black individuals and families, our efforts will improve conditions for all community members in the 40x40.
